About Greenfield Cottage
Greenfield is a period holiday cottage tucked away down one of the bay’s narrow cobbled streets. Inside you’ll find a welcoming holiday home with an individual character. Gas central heating throughout.
Downstairs there is a generous living room with an original tiled floor and a cosy wood-burner set within a Victorian surround, complete with a supply of fuel. The room has original painted 17th century wood paneling and an amazing collection of local objects in display cabinets. For your evening's entertainment you’ll find a 32” SmartTV and DVD with a selection of DVD's available. There is also an Arcam system with cd's (hopefully some being suitable!). Unlimited Wi-Fi is also provided.
The kitchen has handmade units hand-painted in period colours with a Miele washer/dryer, fridge with ice box, a dishwasher, electric oven and hob. The bay window has a round table with seating for four and authentic Victorian lighting throughout the room. Original paintings pepper the walls.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, the first of which is on the 1st floor. This lovely room features antique furniture and a brass double bed. Next door is a large bathroom decorated with Victorian tiles and has a feature bath with an overhead shower .
The 2 other bedrooms are on the top floor. A magical double room with views that are well worth the climb. Doors on this floor are probably from old ships, which was common practice on the east coast. Also on this floor is a single spare room which has restricted head height over the bed - ideal for the banished snorer. Separately there is a further toilet and washbasin - small but functional.
Please note, as with most properties in Robin Hood's Bay you have to be reasonably fit, as car access is only from the main road a few "streets" away. So you will be carrying your luggage from the quayside to the cottage. The house itself has good stairs but a little narrow on the 2nd floor. There is a fire alarm system complying with current regulations.
Garden space is always a rare thing in Robin Hood's Bay but there is a seating area at the end of the front path with a garden bench for your use (2nd to last photo). Bird life is unusually tame and all you are likely to hear in the morning are the birds and the incoming sea in this unusually quiet part of the village. Even at the height of summer, Greenfield remains quiet, with only a few people walking past the cottage each day.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but must be agreed at the time of booking. We will then arrange for extra items to be available for your dog's visit. There is an additional charge for your dog - see prices and booking .
